Paul Miles
President
Paul Miles founded The Academy for Athletes in 2007 as the first and only recognized sports
consultation business in the nation with a full-time staff of specialists in various
disciplines. The Academy’s mission is to provide athletes with an individualized “Game
Plan for Life,” so they can be equally successful off the field as they were in their sports
career.
Miles served four years as the Associate Athletic Director at his alma mater, the
University of Nebraska. As a member of the Executive Team his responsibilities included
managing the department’s corporate sponsorships, licensing, marketing, concessions,
retail sales, game day events, spirit squad, alumni relations and community outreach
programs.
Miles, a native of Princeton, N.J., was a high school All-American in both football
and track. As an I-back at Nebraska, he lettered from 1983 to 1985 while becoming
the fastest Husker. He played professional football as a running back for the Seattle
Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1986 to 1988.
Miles launched the Miles 2 Go 4 Kids Foundation and throughout the 90’s provided
significant funding and basic needs to support children with cancer and their families
including the Institute for Children with Cancer.
Miles also served in executive positions for Nike, Pepsi, Bristol-Myers Squibb,
WWF Entertainment and Junior Achievement.
Miles is a highly sought after motivational and leadership development speaker with
experience ranging from the corporate, private business, athletics, youth and the
non-profit arenas.
Miles earned his bachelor’s degree in speech communication from the University of
Nebraska in 1986. He completed an internship in athletic administration from Harvard
in 1997.
He and his wife, Lisa, reside in Naples, Florida.
